Lectures and Exercises: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) (for Transportation Systems) Keywords: principles of GIS, applications of GIS, GIS architecture, stages of a GIS project, Web based traffic information system, spatial data infrastructure Objectives: This course provides a general introduction to the usage and possibilities of geographical information systems (GIS). The major goals of this class are to overview the possibilities of GIS, to introduce the students to GIS-based methods of modelling and to consolidate the knowledge by guided tutorials. Students will have lab exercises and learn to operate with a typical GIS and perform some practical tasks.
